Cotton Lane spruce up

Riverside has been working hard to tackle problems with a patch of community woodland following concerns raised by residents of Cotton Lane, Halton Brook.

Residents of Cotton Lane, Halton Brook, gave their opinions on the area during a consultation event

Landscape Officer Martin Dugdale has worked with our grounds maintenance contractor, Assist, to deliver the improvement works.

We have removed fly-tipping and litter, strimmed the woodland area, and pruned or felled trees to open up the woods, allowing clear sight lines and access to street lighting.

This will hopefully increase feelings of safety for residents who have already given positive feedback on the work. A number of other trees have been felled on the estate where roots were damaging footpaths. These will now be repaired.

All grassed areas are being edged off for the first time in many years and Assist is also reducing hedges and ripping out overgrown shrub beds, replacing them with turf.
