Housing association Riverside has worked closely with Westleigh Developments and Corby Borough Council on the completion of affordable homes in Northamptonshire. Funding for the development was provided by Riverside and the Homes and Communities Agency.
The Spey Close development, on the former site of the derelict Glasgow Rangers Club along Rockingham Road has provided much-needed new homes in Corby.
The £2.5m project which was completed in December has delivered 24 properties offering a mixture of one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, as well as other two-bedroom homes available for affordable rent and for sale through shared ownership.
Riverside operations manager, Cilla Aram said: “We are thrilled with the success of the development, it’s great to be able to welcome our new residents as they set up their home here, we look forward to working with them to build a strong and thriving community.”
Gary Turner, Head of Investment and Partnership at Westleigh, commented, “These new homes have come to fruition as a result of a great working partnership which has allowed us to build a diverse mix of properties on a disused site that would have otherwise lain dormant. We are thrilled to hear of the success of the development.”
Corby Borough Council’s Lead Member for Housing, Cllr Bob Eyles, said, “Its fantastic news that this site has come to completion and even better that the homes have been snapped up so quickly. Offering affordable housing in Corby is a huge priority to us and we have been eagerly awaiting the completion of this latest project. I hope the new tenants and homeowners settle in quickly and enjoy life in their new home.”
