Foundation funds climbing course

Young people from Dovecot are scaling dizzying heights, thanks to a 10-week indoor climbing course funded by the Riverside Foundation.

Riverside has funded a 10 week climbing course for youngsters in Dovecot

The Foundation, Riverside’s charitable arm, has donated £2,434 to youth provider Priority Youth to deliver the training.

The course took place at Awesome Walls in Liverpool. The youngsters learned skills including team work, personal responsibility, confidence building, and health and safety, as well as technical skills.

The group are all working towards their National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS) Level 2 qualifications, which will help them both in their personal development and with volunteering or future employment.

Riverside Community Engagement Manager Frank Burke said: “We’ve been working closely with Priority Youth as part of the Liverpool East Youth Consortium, and this extra support from the Riverside Foundation highlights how Riverside can bring added value to the work we do in our neighbourhoods.”
