Every year, housing associations across Liverpool invite their tenants to enter a garden competition to celebrate those who take pride in their outdoor spaces.
This year saw a record number of entrants, giving the judges a tough task when they set out to select the winners. The excited winners were invited to the Devonshire House Hotel in October, to hear radio personality Roger Phillips announce the results.
The Riverside winners from across Liverpool were:
Terence Wall individual landlord prize
Susan Tipper 3rd individual over-60 garden
John Dunn 2nd communal garden
Ron Smith 2nd container garden
Arthur Taylor 2nd grow your own garden
Mark Browne, Community Engagement Officer, said: “I visited the Riverside entrants to look at the gardens in person, and the variety and quality of the flowers on display were spectacular.
“The tenants have obviously taken great time and care to nurture their gardens, and it is a great example of how people can take pride in their own environment and communities.”
