Recycling domestic refuse is not always easy for residents living in flats.
Liverpool City Council is encouraging social landlords like Riverside to help deal with the problem, and is setting up pilot schemes in some areas.
Communal Area Officer Michael O’Shaughnessy saw an opportunity to encourage recycling in one area he manages. Working with colleagues from the Divisional Services team, Housing Management and Your Place, Michael arranged an impact day working with the council.
In addition to providing recycling facilities and information about recycling, Michael arranged for a clean-up of outside communal areas and got funding to provide hanging baskets, plant containers and benches to improve the general environment for residents. R
esidents are now recycling and the external areas are still looking good. If you have a problem disposing of your domestic refuse, or are interested in being able to recycle contact us on Tel: 0345 111 000 or email: [email protected]
