Riverside schemes are in the spotlight in a new feature film due for cinema release in the autumn. Filmed across the North West, Tariro is a hard hitting emotional drama with many harrowing scenes shot in Riverside schemes in Southport and Liverpool. Directed by Poulton Court’s Ian Bennett, the 120-minute film is based on real case histories of human trafficking in the UK and draws heavily on Riverside’s experience with that.
Premiered at a private screening at the Plaza Cinema, Waterloo, the rough cut then went into its final, post-production stage, Ian’s lounge becoming an editing suite for a considerable time. He said: “We took 38 minutes out of the original cut, so the final version is much tighter, crisper and even more emotional.” With several at the private screening in tears, and Riverside Group Director of Care and Support, Léann Hearne, summing it all up quite simply with: “Wow – that hurts,” the public version should really be worth a visit to the cinema.
Ian also has a pop-up cinema complete with projector, screen and sound system that makes private screenings for schemes possible. Check the film out or make contact at website.
