Riverside supported by Rochdale Housing Initiative held its 9th Falls Awareness Day.
The event held at the Millbeck Social Club, highlighted the single biggest cause of accidental death in older people.
Alongside free health checks, slippers, information and advice from Riverside’s Affordable Warmth Officer there were a number of stalls promoting their services which included Status 4 All, Circle, Demesne Community Centre, massages and exercise tasters were available. Musical entertainment was provided by Sarah Dennis who sang some nostalgic songs in recognition of the contribution of our armed forces in celebration of Armed Forces Day which got many of our tenants on their feet singing and dancing.
Sharon Thomas, Community Engagement Team Leader for Riverside, said: “Our annual Falls Awareness Days are a really great way of raising awareness about the dangers of slips and falls and great opportunity for partners to come together to provide advice and information about staying fit, safe, healthy and independent into later life. We were delighted with the level of visitors again this year.”
