The Riverside Foundation has funded two fantastic food projects in the North West. Well Fed Langley and Well Fed Colshaw Farm are now getting underway, providing cooking classes, meal box kit deliveries, community events and even a mobile shop; all aimed at supporting our customers in those areas to live healthy lives.
The project is funded through just under £1m investment from the Riverside Foundation and is delivered in partnership with Deeside-based social enterprise, Can Cook, who delivered successful pilot projects last year. Based on the success of pilot projects run last year with our partner provider, Can Cook, the Foundation are investing just under £1m over a three-year period.
We hope that the projects will have a major impact, providing access to affordable fresh meals and helping to develop a sustainable approach to solving food inequality.
The service will initially be available for Riverside customers within the areas – Langley in Rochdale and Colshaw Farm, near Wilmslow, Cheshire – but the aim is to widen the partnership and secure additional investment to enable the roll out of the service to the whole community.
The long-term ambition of the partnership is that the investment will lead to a locally based and run service leaving a long-term legacy for the community.
