A couple of our customers (ES and RS) at Ivy Court had recently relocated from Birmingham. We decided to utilise peer mentoring to ease their transition.
They were inducted to Ivy Court by an existing resident – GH – who showed them how to operate the washing machines and directed them through the weekly events at the scheme. GH also took them around the new area to show them where all the local shops were.
GH said:
“I enjoyed making them feel welcome and being able to show them how things work around the scheme”
ES & RS stated:
“We really appreciated this welcome to Ivy Court from GH and being shown where the local shops are located”
This example of peer mentoring has made customers feel welcomed and empowered and increased engagement in service activities such as Bingo.
