Be Safe, ‘Be A Good Guy’

Riverside work with local agencies to help reduce anti-social behaviour and dangerous illegal fires in the lead up to bonfire night in St Helens.

Ahead of Bonfire night, an Illegal Bonfire removal taskforce ‘The Good Guys’ has been set up in the Parr area of St Helens, who will respond to local residents reports of illegal bonfires being built and remove them before they are lit.

Joining forces with St Helens Council, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service (MFRS), Merseyside Police, Helena Partnerships and others, Riverside will help to remove the source of unsafe nuisance fires from public land.

There will be two skip days being held in Berry Lane on Friday 2 November between 9.30am to 3pm and Derbyshire Hill Road on Monday 5 November between 9.30am to 2pm to remove items that would usually be collected to use for fires. Walkabouts will be carried out by all the agencies so that residents have the opportunity to talk them about any other issues.

Residents of Parr can also report any fly tipping to Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service through Fire Service Direct line on 0800 731 5958.

The council’s free organised firework display takes place on Sunday 5 November at Sherdley Park, St Helens and promises to be a spectacular night.
