Local residents of Callerton Court, near Westerhope, in Newcastle were treated to a morning of festive fun last week.
More than 40 residents came along to hear carols sung by local children, followed by a festive buffet and raffle courtesy of Riverside and Keepmoat, as a thanks for their patience and cooperation whilst the construction of a new development takes place on a site adjacent to Callerton Court.
Children from Farne Primary School sang a variety of carols and hymns for the residents and staff.
The £34m Metropolitan development off Etal Lane includes 163 two, three and four bed private homes for sale by Keepmoat along with 90 affordable homes being built for Riverside, consisting of 20 for rent and 70 for shared ownership sale.
The scheme is the first to be delivered from the newly created Newcastle Housing Delivery Partnership Framework, an initiative which aims to maximise housing output on City Council owned sites through the establishment of closer working relationships with house builders and Registered Housing Providers.
Claire O’Shea Project Manager for Riverside, said: “The residents of Callerton Court have been really fantastic during the building work and we just wanted to thank them with a little bit of festive cheer.”
Sarah Booth Community Engagement & Investment Manager from Keepmoat said “We are delighted to have been able to arrange the Christmas celebrations with Farne Primary School for the residents of Callerton Court. Local communities and lasting partnerships are at the heart of Keepmoat and we look forward to working together with local groups as we deliver new affordable homes on this exciting project.’
