West Moor Juniors FC, based in West Moor, Tyne & Wear have received £500 of funding from Riverside to enable them to buy new strips.
The club was founded in 2011 with just one team and has since grown with the addition of five more teams, which includes both mixed teams and girls teams. The U12 team currently has 14 players, including one girl.
The team are all local children and compete in the Pinpoint recruitment league with matches played on Sundays at West Moor Community Centre. The Under 12’s are currently top of the league, having only lost one game this season.
Gary Carter, Manager said “A fundamental part of our club’s integrity is to teach respect. Our home base is a local community centre and we work with the local residents to put back into the community. We are extremely grateful to Riverside for sponsoring our team which enables us to provide new strips, training wear and equipment”
Lee Bailey, Riverside said “we are always keen to support local community groups and are pleased to be able to help out this local club with funding towards new strips and equipment. It’s great that local children have somewhere to go to keep fit and socialise and we wish them well for the remainder of the season”.
