Sue said “I absolutely love gardening, it gets you out in the fresh air and sunshine and helps keep you forever young. I would really encourage tenants and residents to take pride in their gardens and enter next year’s competition.”

All entrants were judged independently by Board Member, Bill Barkworth and Lee Bailey from Riverside.

Bill said, “It’s really impressive to see so many entrants to this annual competition, and it’s lovely to see that so many of our tenants and residents take such pride in their outdoor areas. Hopefully the growing popularity of the competition will ensure we will continue with this event for many years to come”.

”It was a pleasure to be invited to judge the competition and I enjoyed the creativity and hard work which has clearly gone into the planning and development of these beautiful outdoor spaces. I was really pleased to be asked to present the awards and it was fantastic to meet all our residents who put so much time, effort and pride into looking after their gardens.”

Matthew Biggs, a broadcaster and panellist on BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners’ Question Time came along to talk to tenants and residents about the numerous benefits of gardening.

Matthew said, “I was delighted to come along to these awards. It just goes to show that gardening can not only improve the areas that we live in, but also has great health benefits too.”
