Day of action in Kirkdale

Riverside has teamed up with Merseyside Police and partner agencies to combat crime and anti-social behaviour in Liverpool.

The day of action in Kirkdale earlier this month was part of the DISARM initiative to make the area a safer place to live.

The highly visible operation involved knocking on doors and handing out leaflets to reassure residents following a series of incidents in the community involving local gangs. It was also an opportunity for people to disclose any information they had on criminal incidents.

Ian Lightfoot, Riverside’s Regional Services Manager for the Liverpool City Region, said: “We joined the Kirkdale DISARM Partnership in 2015 to help us tackle the issues in the area.

“Officers have been monitoring the level of crime, and have carried out a series of warrants to search houses and made arrests.

“Working in partnership with community safety partners and the police as part of the DISARM partnership is allowing us to tackle and reduce crime across Liverpool and Sefton, while trying to reassure our customers that we are working to keep them safe.”
