Our work in your neighbourhoods

Over the last two years we’ve been working to introduce new initiatives, make improvements and provide additional services to some of our neighbourhoods across the Midlands and the South of the country.

We’ve created a number of neighbourhood plans in our communities to improve the lives of our customers.

Here’s some of the achievements from 2018 to 2020 within neighbourhoods in Derby, Stoke on Trent, Leicester, Thanet, Erewash and Sandwell.

  • We’ve invested an additional £348,000 on improving our neighbourhoods and outdoor spaces. This has involved:
    • Improving security with CCTV upgrades and re-decorating the communal areas at a scheme in Derby
    • Renovating and improving existing sleeping space as well as providing an additional four bed spaces for rough sleepers at one of our homeless accommodation shelters in Derby
    • Improving outdoor areas such as replacing old and worn fencing, and improving the condition of our paved areas.

  • With our support our customers have been able to claim £51,000 in benefits they were entitled to and savings of £300+ off heating bills.
  • By hosting job workshops and partnering with key stakeholders we’ve supported 13 customers into work just in these six neighbourhoods.
  • We hosted a job fair, in partnership with Business2Business (B2B) in Braunstone, Leicester, to help our customers look for employment opportunities.
  • 17 new customers have signed up to join our iCommunity. To find out more and how to join click here.
  • We’ve shared two local offers with customers on what we’re planning or are doing in two neighbourhoods, with further offers for other neighbourhoods in the pipeline.
  • We’ve formed partnerships to tackle homelessness. In Thanet we’ve partnered with Porchlight and in Derby we have been working closely with REST, where we have seen a 90% reduction of rough sleeping at a site in the Castleward area.
  • We’ve formed an exciting partnership with SportInspired in Thanet which will see us deliver a sports-based programme for our younger customers.
  • A new Women at Risk (WaR) project has started at a renovated scheme in Derby.
  • Unplanned hospital admissions reduced by 70% within our supported services in Derby by working with key external stakeholders in the community.
