Stay warm and save money this Christmas

Whether it will be a white Christmas is anyone’s guess, but when temperatures fall, we want you to be able to stay warm and well for as little money as possible.

Making sure you’re on the best tariff with your energy supplier could mean big savings. Find out by comparing gas and electricity prices or contact us for advice.

Keep yourself and your home warm

Do you qualify for Warm Home Discount?

If you do, it means £140 off your electricity bill. You might get it automatically but if not there will be different guidelines, depending on your energy supplier. Here are some reasons you may be eligible:

  • I’m on the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • I’m on income- or health-related benefits
  • I have a child who gets Disability Living Allowance
  • I have a child under five
  • My household income is less than £16,000 a year.

If you think you might qualify, get in touch with your energy supplier.

Keep yourself and your home warm

If you can, keep the heating at between 18 and 21 degrees. It’s usually cheaper than short bursts at higher temperatures.

Keep the heat in by making sure all doors are closed and using draught excluders. Thick curtains make all the difference too.

Wearing several layers and thick socks if you’ve got them can keep you warm. So can keeping active – even simple chair-based exercises can help.
