About Derby Private Financial Initiative (PFI)

The Derby PFI is a £28m housing deal set up to relieve housing demand within Derby and redevelop derelict properties. The contract was signed by Riverside and Derby City Council in early September 2012 and is for a fixed term of 30 years. The contract is for the delivery of 104 new-build homes and 66 redeveloped existing homes.

Improvement and Regeneration

The project has provided much needed regeneration across the city and delivered a range of house types to a very high standard achieving Lifetime Homes in all of the houses and ground floor apartments and 6 fully accessible wheelchair standard properties, including covered disabled parking provision.

In recognition of the local and wider community’s needs, the project has gone beyond bricks and mortar working with Derby City Council to support the development of a community allotment in Spondon. An Allotment Association has been formed and a key driver for this facility is to support and educate local people towards a greener, healthier lifestyle and environment.

Management of the Derby PFI

Sharon Deol – Project Lead

Derby PFI  project has had a hugely positive impact on the areas of regeneration, in particular Spondon, Alvaston and Chaddesden. The quality of the homes developed are to an exceptional standard and our tenants provide very positive feedback.

Lakhy Ralh – Assistant Manager

Due to the financial penalties associated with the contract and the potential risk to Riverside, service delivery is monitored closely by its dedicated Assistant Manager.

We have recently created a ‘Derby Partnership Panel’ designed to provide a forum for our tenants to work in partnership with Riverside staff, Board members and other partners to secure high quality services, value for money and continuous improvements.

We also offer a range of ‘extra services’ to support our customers in sustaining their tenancies and thriving in their homes. These key services include:

  • Money Advice
  • Affordable Warmth
  • Employment and Training

We have dedicated teams with expert staff members on hand ready to support our customers. These are free and confidential services.

Our customers are our most important asset and we strive to deliver the highest standard of service and continuous improvement by listening to feedback.

If you are interested in joining our panel or would like further information regarding any of our services please call us on 0345 111 0000.
