The Local Centre

Print

The plans for the Local Centre involve re‑designing the area to create a new heart for the community, providing new community spaces, facilities and services for residents, and safe, well‑connected travel routes.

In August 2023, planning permission was approved for the Local Centre. Following further design development, the plans have since been updated. The previously proposed Extra Care development has been replaced with new homes.

The updated plans for the Local Centre will now deliver 96 new homes, made up of bungalows, houses and apartments with one to four bedrooms, alongside a new church, community centre and commercial units.

You can view changes here, and see the details of the new homes and house types here.

Timeline for delivery

Work started on site at the Local Centre in March 2026. The Overall Phasing plan and the Phase One Delivery Plan show what work is planned, the order it will be delivered in, and when this is expected to take place.

Support for residents

If you live in the Local Centre and your home has been identified for demolition, you can find information about home loss payments, disturbance payments and support with moving home in Your Offer Document.

Residents can contact the regeneration team at any time to ask questions or request a meeting, even if their home is not currently included in planned phases.

You are welcome to bring an advocate to any meeting, such as a family member, friend, neighbour, your MP or local councillor.
