The Uplands
PrintThe plans for The Uplands involve re‑shaping the area through the selective demolition of existing homes to make way for modern, stylish and energy‑efficient new housing and an improved neighbourhood environment. The proposals will deliver 257 new homes, including houses, apartments and bungalows, offering a mix of one‑ to four‑bedroom properties across affordable rent, shared ownership and homes for sale. Changes will also include improvements to public spaces and travel routes, alongside community‑ and resident‑based projects and safety initiatives.
Planning permission for The Uplands was approved by Halton Borough Council’s planning committee in May 2024.
Timeline for delivery
Work on site at The Uplands is not expected to begin until 2027. The Overall Phasing Plan has been shared and explains the proposed approach to delivery and indicative timescales, which may change as plans are finalised.
Support for residents
If you live in The Uplands, we understand that you may have questions or concerns about what these plans could mean for you. No one has been asked to move at this stage, and any households affected by future plans will receive at least 18 months’ notice. This time will be used for planning, discussion and support, and you will not be expected to move straight away. Everyone affected will be offered one‑to‑one support, so we can understand individual circumstances and help explore suitable options. Our aim is always to work with residents to reach the best possible outcome and to avoid compulsory purchase wherever possible.
If you live in The Uplands and your home has been identified for potential demolition, you can find information about home loss payments, disturbance payments and support with moving home in Your Offer Document. Owner occupiers do not need to wait for the 18‑month notice period if they wish to move sooner. If you decide you would like to sell your home now, we can discuss this with you and explain the options available.
Residents can contact the regeneration team at any time to ask questions or request a meeting, even if their home is not currently included in planned phases.
You are welcome to bring an advocate to any meeting, such as a family member, friend, neighbour, your MP or local councillor.
